You probably won't be seeing McAfee on NXT for a while.

This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter includes an update on Pat McAfee's NXT future.

Dave Meltzer reported that the call to remove McAfee from television for the time being was one taken by WWE management - it wasn't a decision Pat made himself. Things get more intriguing when one realises just how big a part McAfee played on NXT TV in 2020.

His two matches, against Adam Cole at TakeOver XXX and as part of the titular WarGames carnage in early-December, remain highlights of the brand's year, and Pat was earning rave reviews from the likes of Steve Austin and CM Punk for his mic work on top of that.

Now, the Observer reports, McAfee won't be seen on NXT until "later in the spring". He did take to Twitter and congratulate Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch on retaining the NXT Tag-Team Titles against Drake Maverick and Killian Dain on Wednesday's episode.

It looks like social media input will be Pat's lot for a good few months.

Meltzer didn't go into details on exactly why McAfee had been removed from television in the interim. Stay tuned for more details when they break.
