Triple H (with Shawn Michaels) vs Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman)
It is a simple wrestling fact: Shawn Michaels, the Heartbreak Kid, makes everything a little bit better. And so on Monday Night Raw, despite playing no part in the Triple H v Brock feud since last summer, HBK was brought out and thrown into the mix. Booking logic aside, seeing Michaels at Wrestlemania is never a bad thing, so I have no problem with this. Lesnar of course 'broke' HBK's arm before his Summerslam match with Triple H, and HBK also saw his own career finished at Wrestlemania, as Triple H's could be, so he said he had reason enough to be out there. HBK put over Brock's ruthless aggression and said Triple H was putting his life on the line. He told The Game however that at Wrestlemania he knows he can kick Brock's ass, and that he was going to be in his corner to see him do it. Brock's music interrupted the mutual love-in, and out he came with Heyman. Talking of the disappointment The Game will be to everyone after Brock beats him, Heyman asked HBK if he really wants to get that close on Sunday. Shawn readied for a fight, but Heyman instead continued to resort to verbal jibes, telling Triple H he should have walked away. The mixture of Heyman on the mic and Brock's sadistic smile and pent-up aggression still adds up to a fearful promo, and the pair left Triple H and HBK looking on as they walked away. Despite this being in effect another unwanted rematch, I actually think this follow up bout has been booked well. It needed more after the disappointment at Summerslam, and they have done so with the No Holds Barred stipulation, putting Triple H's career on the line, and now having HBK in The Game's corner. Hopefully it means we will get to see at least one Sweet Chin Music to either Heyman or Brock, and it should also improve the psychology of the match, with HBK and Heyman two of the best storytellers in the industry. While I still don't expect a five star classic by any means, the match should at least be a couple of steps up from their previous bout, and we should see a 30 minute brawl with plenty of twists and turns.
Prediction: Could Triple H's career genuinely be in danger? I still doubt it, and think we will see The Game dish out a little retribution to Brock, perhaps with a little help from HBK.
