Another superstar on the rise is Wade 'Bad News' Barrett. After multiple setbacks including injury, visa issues, and a repackaging as a non-wrestler whose duty it is to poop the party wherever he goes, the Lancashire native has finally been stepping back into the ring, with two impressive wins over Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston in his first week back between the ropes. What may be just a mid-card series of bouts for the guy who couldn't even get a spot in the Andre Battle Royal (you know, the one that Brad Maddox was in) is hopefully much more, as the WWE can potentially capitalize on the frustrations of Barrett's fanbase and finally give them what they want - a chance for Bad News Barrett to shine. It's no secret that the WWE had high hopes for Wade when he first started appearing on TV, back when he was leader of The Nexus in 2010, and its offshoot The Corre. Big matches were lined up against the biggest stars WWE had to offer, as part of The Nexus' demonstration of superiority over the best in the world, but the hype was short lived. The angle fizzled out, and even an Intercontinental Championship reign couldn't save Barrett's career from spiraling downwards. But his recent gimmick (which has turned out to be surprisingly entertaining), as well as a renewed sense of dominance against recent opponents, has given Barrett the push he so badly needed. At 6'7" and 246lbs, he has the size and stature to go a long way in a Rumble match, but isn't just someone that the WWE would market as a traditional 'big man'. No, his in-ring work is far too good and his promo skills are far too established to go to waste any longer, and Barrett should be preparing himself for some very good news, for a change, come January.
