The Royal Rumble match is always one of the most entertaining matches of the year, with an hour's worth of tense action and thirty WWE superstars battling it out. What's key to holding the the audience for so long, is the one on one exchanges that emerge during the match. Wrestlers will often pair away for individual battles, sometimes in a foreshadowing of what is to come at WrestleMania. Looking ahead to Royal Rumble 2016, there are already some battle lines established. In other instances, WWE superstars have teased on social media who they will be targeting in the Rumble. Beyond that, there's a range of other rivalries you should expect to crop up during the January 24 main event. Here are 10 key battles to look out for in the 2016 Royal Rumble.
10. Alberto Del Rio Vs. Kalisto
Kalisto had only just won the US Title from Alberto Del Rio on Raw, when the heel went and won it back the very next night on Smackdown. WWE have booked a mini feud between the pair. You can expect the hostilities to continue in the Royal Rumble match. Both are on the prospective list of Rumble entrants, and given that they've worked together so much recently, it would make sense that WWE would book them to be in the match at the same time at the Rumble. There's an advantage in that they are used to each other, which should help their exchanges and the general flow of the Rumble match. Del Rio may well get the last laugh in the feud, by throwing Kalisto over the rop tope.
