WWE Royal Rumble 2017: 10 Possible Surprise Entrants
3. Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle has been away from WWE for a long time. Despite making his name working for Vince McMahon, he has actually spent more of his active career as a member of TNA’s roster, having wrestled there for a decade. When Angle left WWE, they were not on the best of terms, although hopefully time will have healed the wounds there. After leaving TNA at the start of 2016, many have expected a triumphant return for Kurt, but it has yet to happen.
The Rumble could be finally the time that Angle once again hears “you suck” as he makes his way to the ring, as fans with long memories will be delighted to see the Olympic Gold Medallist.
Will it happen? Angle has often spoken of wanting to finish out his career with WWE, and the time seems to be drawing near. Kurt has undoubtedly slowed down his schedule in recent years, but this has meant he has been able to perform at the high level he expects from himself for a longer time period. His appearance could also help along Jason Jordan and fellow Olympian Chad Gable, a team he has expressed admiration for, as he could easily slide into a role as their on-screen mentor. The trio could be a formidable force on SmackDown, leading towards Angle’s retirement from active competition.
