WWE Royal Rumble 2017: 10 Things To Expect
9. Rey Mysterio Jr. Enters The Rumble
Rey Mysterio has a lot of fans in Texas. Well, really he does all over the world, but in locations with a large Hispanic audience, he’s insanely over. As one of the greatest Luchadors of all time, that is to be expected.
Currently Rey is in Lucha Underground, but rumors have been making the rounds of a WWE return for quite some time. We don’t know how long LU has him locked in for, meaning he could potentially leave the series at any point in between seasons.
Now just imagine the pop Rey would get when his music plays and he runs out to enter the Rumble. It would be explosive. Plus, it would help right the wrong of him being booed mercifully in his last Rumble appearance for the crime of not being Daniel Bryan.
Of course Rey wouldn’t win the match, but afterwards, it would be great to see him stick around on a limited time basis. He could work a few big shows, perhaps team with T.J. Perkins, or put him over, and largely save his body from further wear and tear.
Having Mysterio announced ahead of time as a Rumble participant in his WWE return would be big news, and sell quite a few tickets. If the two sides can put away some of the heat they had in the past, the Royal Rumble would be a tremendous location for his homecoming.
