WWE Royal Rumble 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

2. The Quality Of Surprise Entrants

Cast a weary eye back to the 2012 Royal Rumble for the horrible visual of Michael Cole, Ricardo Rodriguez and Jim Duggan acting as surprise entrants. OK, so Duggan's fine from a nostalgia pop perspective, but wouldn't you rather have the tasty treats WWE served up this year instead?

For the first time in a long time, the shock entrants didn't feel like a waste of space. Andrade Almas, the NXT Champion, was a nice touch, The Hurricane filled that nostalgia quota for the year and Rey Mysterio was back looking better than ever. The trend of quality continued in the female Rumble as well.

There, comeback queens like Lita, Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix were brought out at the right times. Lita came early, Stratus blew the roof off the place as #30 and every other legend making a comeback did so without totally hogging the spotlight and stealing Asuka's big moment.

Whomever laid out this year's Rumble matches, we salute you.
