WWE Royal Rumble 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

1. The Final Four In The Men's Rumble

The final quartet in the men's Rumble could be renamed 'WWE vs. The Internet'. Perhaps 'WWE Poster Boys vs. Hardcore Fan Darlings' would be better.

Whatever the case, it was unique to see WWE acknowledge the never-ending war between who they want to push and who fans wish to see instead. Roman Reigns and John Cena on one side. Finn Bálor and Shinsuke Nakamura on the other. What a brilliant idea, and it came across great on television.

WWE deserve plaudits for picking the right Rumble winner, sure, but they also get praise for teasing that it could all go wrong for Nakamura/Bálor fanatics. No, we wouldn't be singing the same tune had it come down to Reigns vs. Cena, and, for the briefest of moments, that was a possibility.

It was dramatic, it was emotional and it was well-executed. Compare the finale of this year's Rumble to the drab finishes to recent Rumbles won by Reigns or Batista and Nakamura's win becomes even more important. Like it or not, Cena and Reigns played a big part in building that tension.
