Actually, the Dean title loss might not have been so obvious as the man he dropped the belt to was already scheduled to be in the Royal Rumble. The big lad announced at a house show in Fort Myers that he’d be in the match, which he presumably still is despite his recent acquisition of silverware. There's an outside chance he's pulled to defend his title, but with only a week to go it seems unlikely.

9. Samoa Joe

One very random outside shout for Rumble winner - and I mean about as outside as it gets after the 2018 he had - is Samoa Joe. There was initial talk about having him score an upset victory to effectively reset his main-event credibility, but that has died away considerably in recent weeks. Like Ambrose, a strong showing would be the order of the day, but little more.
