WWE Royal Rumble 2020: 10 Former Stars Who Should Return Tonight!
8. Santino Marella
Santino Marella was one of those wrestlers who didn't receive a grand sendoff after quietly retiring from the ring in the summer of 2014. It was a neck injury that forced him to hang up the boots, though he remained under contract and appeared sporadically for the company until receiving his release in May 2016.
The Milan Miracle has stayed busy since his departure, primarily with his wrestling school Battle Arts Academy and has even wrestled on a handful of occasions. If he's healthy enough to compete in full-length matches again, surely he'd be able to make a quick cameo in the 2020 Royal Rumble.
Lest we forget, he was the runner-up in the 2011 Royal Rumble after almost tossing out Alberto Del Rio to win the whole thing. Unfortunately, it didn't work out in his favor, but it was moments like that that made Marella such an entertaining and wacky character.
The sole appearance Marella has made on WWE TV in recent years was at the Raw Reunion show last summer in a non-wrestling role. He'd had have no shot at coming out on top in the Rumble, mind you, but the return of the dreaded Cobra would give the match some much-needed comic relief.
