WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Is Already A Record-Breaker
We're still two months out but Royal Rumble 2023 is already doing numbers for WWE.
Royal Rumble 2023 has already smashed the brand's record gate.
Fightful Select reports that the event's gate has now passed the $5 million mark. This makes it the highest-grossing Royal Rumble event ever, surpassing 2017's previous record.
The gap between those two shows should keep growing between now and Saturday, 28 January, when WWE's signature over-the-top-rope battle royal hits San Antonio, Texas. Tickets are still available for general sale for what is currently set to be the promotion's first premium live event of 2023.
Royal Rumble 2023, like 2017, takes place in the Alamodome - a stadium that can be calibrated to hold up to 60,000 fans for professional wrestling. WWE announced an attendance of 52,020 for 2017. By WrestleTix's last estimate, the company had shifted 30,361 of the 33,874 tickets made available for 2023, meaning the higher gate is likely down to increased ticket prices for next year's show.

WWE is yet to announce any matches beyond the Rumbles themselves. If not for Day 1's cancellation, Royal Rumble would be the company's second premium live event of the year, though the promotion opted to ditch the 1 January event following a networking clash.
