WWE Royal Rumble: Best Performances From Every Entry Slot
2. Rey Mysterio - 2006
Though the No. 1 spot is always billed as the toughest draw for any superstar, there is no difference between that and No. 2. Only Rey Mysterio and Vince McMahon have won the Rumble from this position, in 2006 and 1999 respectively. While McMahon spent the majority of the match outside of the ring, returning to eliminate a distracted Austin, Rey Mysterio really worked for his victory, dispatching of six men in one hour and two minutes: the record for longevity.
Rey first eliminated No. 3 entrant Simon Dean with the help of Triple H, swiftly followed by No. 4 entrant Psicosis. Between then and the final four, Mysterio's only elimination came with the help of RVD, throwing Psicosis' tag partner Super Crazy over the top.
The final four consisted of Rey, RVD, Triple H, and Randy Orton. After inadvertently eliminating Van Dam, Rey was left in a handicap situation against the two former Evolution members. After Mysterio countered The Game's elimination attempt to send him crashing to the mat below, they were down to two.
Even after being dragged under the ropes and attacked by Triple H, Mysterio was still able to use an incredible Hurricanrana to launch Orton over the top rope, dedicating his victory to his friend, the late, great Eddie Guerrero.
