WWE Royal Rumble: Best Performances From Every Entry Slot
28. Batista - 2005
Batista loves the No. 28 spot, earning himself his main event match at WrestleMania from this slot in both 2005 and nine years later in 2014. The latter saw Batista eliminate four men, falling just short of the five he eliminated in 2005.
In his first Royal Rumble match since being eliminated by The Undertaker two years earlier, Batista went two places further to victory. Within a minute of entering the ring The Animal had eliminated Snitsky, power-bombed Kane, and thrown Chris Jericho over the top like he weighed no more than a child. His next two eliminations were Christian, and Edge, with the help of John Cena, leaving the final two.
Reminiscent of the 1994 finish, Cena and Batista both went over the top and hit the floor at the same time. After the Raw referees declared Batista the winner and the SmackDown referees declared Cena the winner, the match continued on like nothing had happened.
A quick Spine-Buster later, Cena was eliminated and Batista officially declared the winner. Though it was an incredibly messy finish, The Animal didn't care, winning the Royal Rumble for the first time.
