WWE Royal Rumble: Best Performances From Every Entry Slot
27. Yokozuna - 1993
In 1993, Yokozuna became the first man to win the Royal Rumble from the No. 27 spot. Two other men have matched this feat (not including Bret Hart's co-victory with Lex Lugor in 1994.) In 1989, Big John Studd eliminated two men on his way to victory, and Stone Cold Steve Austin threw three men over the top rope during his 2001 victory, neither of which came anywhere close to the seven eliminations Yokozuna racked up.
At the time of the Royal Rumble in 1993, Yokozuna had never even been knocked off his feet in the wrestling ring, and as he entered he was the clear favourite to win the whole thing.
Tatanka was his first victim, quickly followed by Carlos Colón, before a battle with the second biggest man in the ring, Earthquake. After standing up to the best Earthquake could throw at him, Yokozuna sent his opponent over the top with a monstrous belly to belly suplex.
After fighting off every other man in the ring, Yokozuna eliminated Tito Santana, Owen Hart (almost breaking his leg in the process), Bob Backlund, and Randy Savage, winning his debut Royal Rumble, and becoming the first man to earn a main event at WrestleMania in this way.
