WWE Royal Rumble Debut Wrestlers: Where Are They Now?
2. One Man Gang
The One Man Gang only lasted 6:50 in the debut Royal Rumble, but no competitor was more dominant. He eliminated a total of six wrestlers en route to his second place finish, but he couldn't get the best of Jim Duggan, who scored the decisive elimination on him.
Standing at 6'9" and tipping the scales at 450lbs, Gang was one of his era's most prominent monsters. His peak WWE run was all too brief, however, and after losing to Randy Savage at WrestleMania IV, Gang was shunted down the card. September saw him take on one of the most racially insensitive gimmicks WWE have ever produced in Akeem the African Dream, and it was pretty much all downhill from there.
He left WWE in 1990, and signed up with WCW the following year. Returning to his old One Man Gang persona, he remained undefeated throughout his early run, but soon drifted out of the company. He bounced in and out of prominence over the following years, becoming WCW United States Champion in 1995, and appearing at ECW's November to Remember in 1998.
From there, Gang found work as a prison guard at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, but a long-standing back problem forced him to quit. He's currently part of the ongoing brain trauma class action lawsuit against WWE, and made the news in August 2016 when his Baton Rouge home was flooded.
