Neville’s reign as King of the Cruiserweights was superb from start to finish.

The Newcastle native had a series of proficient matches against Austin Aries and the intense style adopted following his heel turn also meshed nicely with Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa.

Enzo Amore is not nearly as good a dancing partner as those mentioned above, but that Neville lost the title at the first attempt to a low blow at No Mercy, having taken very little offence from Amore previously, made a mockery of Neville’s intelligence and fortitude.

‘The Certified G’ has since gone on to make a success of his heel turn and is attracting mainstream spotlight to the Cruiserweight division that even Neville cannot claim to have garnered during his time as champion. But the end here does not justify the means.

Neville carried the 205 Live brand for six months and rightly saw the manner of this defeat as a mark of disrespect. It was little surprise that he walked out on WWE weeks later.
