With the rest of Team Blue's women’s division occupied by the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, Lana was thrust into a SmackDown Women’s Championship bout on her pay-per-view singles debut. Her lack of experience showed as she looked out of place.

‘The Ravishing Russian’ started off well enough, executing some aggressive offence by suplexing Naomi twice into the ropes and clocking her in the chin with a standing calf kick.

It was not her athleticism that exposed her, but her ring awareness and endurance. Once she had done her main spots, Lana's uncertainty of what to do next slowed the match down and caused it to lose energy despite Naomi’s best efforts to carry her opponent through.

This would not have been out of place on Tuesday nights, but it was way short of pay-per-view standard because Lana just wasn’t ready. There was no way that WWE were going to put the title on her, so setting her up to lose damaged her wrestling credibility from the off.
