John Cena is very much a part-time performer in today's WWE. That appears to have been the point of drafting him to SmackDown Live in the Summer, Cena is the kind of big-name character who can add much-needed star power to SmackDown whenever he does drop back in for an appearance.

On both Raw and SmackDown this week, the announcers were instructed to make a big deal out of Cena's showing on Saturday Night Live. Helping to host the show, WWE's poster boy for the media said during the segment that he'd love to do more of that sort of thing. Does this mean that Cena will be seen less on WWE programming in the new year?

For now, John is scheduled to make a SmackDown comeback in just a few weeks. After hyping Saturday Night Live, Mauro Ranallo, JBL and David Otunga revealed that Cena would be returning on the December 27 episode of the show.

A graphic was quickly shown, then repeated later in the broadcast. For those skipping between matches, this may have been missed.
