WWE SmackDown: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (Dec 13)
4. Heath Slater & Rhyno Don't Get Their Automatic Rematch For The Titles
At the TLC pay-per-view, Heath Slater and Rhyno were beaten for the SmackDown Tag-Team Titles by Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt. This ended a fairytale Summer for the thrown-together unit, Slater and Rhyno had once been the top babyface tandem on Tuesday nights. Now, it looks like they're heading towards a split.
In the midst of the ongoing split storyline, one thing has been forgotten. Usually in WWE, defeated champions get the chance to avenge their loss by way of an automatic rematch. This has been used time and time again to explain why a new champion would agree to face an old one. They have to, they're contractually obliged.
That idea has been ignored when it comes to Heath Slater and Rhyno. The Hype Bros are now the top contenders for Orton and Wyatt following this week's SmackDown, leaving the former champs firmly out in the cold. Slater and Rhyno seemingly won't get the automatic rematch to try and win back their belts that every other defeated champion gets in WWE.
