7. JBL's Confusing Logic

Poor Tom Phillips. Not only does SmackDown's play-by-play man have to drag Byron Saxton through shows every week, he also has to put up with JBL trying to shatter key storylines on the brand. This week, JBL claimed that nobody on SmackDown felt last week's Triple Threat match drama was unfair.

Isn't that Kevin Owens entire argument, that losing the US Title to AJ Styles via Chris Jericho represents a wider agenda from SmackDown management towards him? What was JBL playing at here, and why did he tear down the whole purpose of the angle? After saying it was unfair to KO initially, JBL then changed his tune and said nobody was grumbling.

The KO vs. Shane McMahon conspiracy story relies on the announcers hammering home the point that Owens feel aggrieved. This is especially true of those commentators who are supposed to give the heel's point of view. This was just confusing.
