R-Truth was unable to finish his heated grudge match with old pal Damian Priest.

WWE veteran R-Truth was struck down by an undisclosed injury during his grudge match vs. Damian Priest on Friday's episode of SmackDown. The pair had only been working for around 3-4 minutes when the referee halted the match following a missile dropkick spot.

Truth landed awkwardly, then looked rather dazed before conversing with the official. That ref then had a brief chat with Priest, who left the ring to grab a steel chair. Fraxiom pair Nathan Frazer and Axiom then rushed out to protect Truth from further attacks.

False Finish is reporting that the injury was legitimate. However, Fraxiom were going to run in and stop a post-match beatdown following Priest's win anyway, so the point of the match/segment still came across to fans watching at home.

There was, of course, concern in the arena for R-Truth when the referee held up the "X" hand signal. That's never a good sign, because it suggests that a worker is badly hurt and requires immediate medical attention. There's no word quite yet on the extent of the injury or how long Truth will be benched for.

The Wrestling Observer has noted that something similar happened with Truth back in 2022 during his match vs. Grayson Waller. On that occasion, the vet tore his quad, so fingers crossed his injury isn't that severe in 2026.

At this point, it'd also be a surprise if WWE came back to the Priest vs. Truth feud anyway. Friday's match seemed to be a blowoff to their rivalry following Damian's heel turn before Truth got hurt.
