WWE SmackDown - Women's Title Steel Cage Match Announced For Next Week
Alexa Bliss defends against Becky Lynch one more time.
As a result of a backstage segment that saw both women appeal to Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan, Alexa Bliss will be defending the brand's Women's Championship against Becky Lynch on next week's show - in a steel cage match.
Becky appealed to Bryan for the rematch, pointing out that last week in her match with La Luchadora, the original enmascarada rolled under the ring and was replaced by another Luchadora - Bliss in disguise - whom she defeated. Having submitted the champion earned her another shot, she argued, but Bliss interrupted, trying to convince Bryan that she was simply working undercover to ascertain the identity of La Luchadora. Bryan didn't buy it, booking the rematch and setting it in a steel cage to ensure no outside interference.
Bliss and Becky have been feuding since September, when Becky became the inaugural Smackdown Women's Champion and Bliss was named number one contender. Though a medical issue to Becky delayed their showdown, when the two fought in a tables match at TLC, Bliss pulled off the upset to become champion. When Becky got her rematch, though, a masked woman known as "La Luchadora" interfered on Bliss's behalf to help the champ retain.
