WWE Star Shoots On Recent Name Change
Did WWE's recent name change decision bother this SmackDown wrestler at all?
Ex-NXT star Raquel Gonzalez recently had her surname changed to Rodriguez in prep for a jump to SmackDown.
The Friday night hopeful told the 'Pro Wrestling Podcast' that she had "no big arguments" about the change - Raquel described it as "a simple little switch" that was necessary if she wanted the chance to prove herself on a bigger platform like FOX.
WWE's recent mandate reportedly decreed that nobody could use their real names on Raw, SmackDown or NXT anymore. Of course, that didn't apply to every wrestler on the roster, but Vince McMahon took the opportunity to change up some newcomers or less-established workers.
Gonzalez was one of them.
Company officials didn't make a big song and dance when breaking the news either. They strolled up to Raquel backstage and said: "Hey, you’re getting a name change and this is it". Her reply? "Cool, that's fine".
Switching up her name to Raquel Rodriguez isn't something that the former NXT Women's Champion is going to lose any sleep over. She realises that getting p*ssy about something like that would work against her on WWE's main roster.
