WWE Started It WCW Finished It - 10 Feuds That Switched Companies

5. Bret Hart Vs. Curt Hennig

Bret Hart and Curt Hennig in the ring together were like poetry in motion. Two second-generation stars from wrestling families whose styles and personas complimented each other to a T. Both men were gifted technical wrestlers whose matches would showcase fluid chain wrestling sequences, innovative spots and polar opposite gimmicks. Curt Hennig fit the cocky heel personal like a glove while Bret Hart nicely opposed him as the hard-working, humble babyface. The two men established their chemistry in a fantastic series of matches (mostly on house shows) in 1989 while Hennig was a rising star and Hart was testing out his solo career while still a member of the Hart Foundation. The grapplers really hit their stride a few years later. The WWE finally committed to a serious singles push for the Hitman and he was given a shot at Hennig€™s Intercontinental title at Summerslam 91. What occurred doing that event was simply one of the finest matches of the decade with Hart capturing his first singles title while Hennig would take a sabbatical after the match due to recover from a back injury. The two men would rematch a year later (this time both as babyfaces) in the semi-finals of the 1993 King of the Ring Tournament when Hart again would get the nod. From there, Hart would go on to rise to superstardom in the WWE while Hennig€™s career would start to decline. When WCW picked up the reigns six years later they would have Hennig welcome the newly signed Hart to the company in a series of matches. Hardcore wrestling fans were thrilled to see these two old rivals revisit their feud but things really weren€™t the same. Hennig had declined as a worker at that point and he wasn't viewed as credible threat to the dominant Hitman this time around. The matches were marred with typical outside interference and Hart would quickly win the rivalry and move to bigger opponents in his WCW career.
