WWE Sting Into The Light Review: 10 Insights You Need To Know

2. Religion And Not Signing With WWE

In the August of 1998, Sting found God. He had been feeling like he was getting ripped in so many directions, and had succumbed to "temptations" on the road. It ultimately cost him his marriage, but God helped him to turn his life around. He also comments that "Vince was calling me a lot in those days." Fast forward to 2001, and Vince was still calling. WCW had been bought by the WWF, but they couldn't assume Sting's contract. "I always thought Vince was more interested in me to undermine WCW than wanting me as a talent," he says. He reflects on WCW, saying "there were a lot of good years right there." Jim Ross tried hard to sign him, but ultimately conceded that WWE's non-PG content was too much of a barrier for Sting and his Christianity. Sting then does actually mention going to TNA, which is surprising for a WWE release.
