WWE SummerSlam 2002: 5 Awesome Things And 5 Things That Sucked

1. Chris Jericho Had A Surprisingly Poor Match With Ric Flair

This one's painful to write because they are two of my favorite guys ever, but this match just didn't work. Jericho was the heel in this match and Flair was the 52 year old babyface. It had a weird dynamic because it was as if the goal of this match was to put over the "new" guy and that was Flair. That's bizarre, though. Flair's a legend that didn't need to be built up or put over somebody that was 20 years younger than him like Jericho, but that's what happened. The crowd was into it because of the caliber of the performers, but the chemistry of these two stars was off a bit. It looked like Flair was out of place a few different times in the match. Jericho was the aggressor for much of it. Flair barely did much except selling. When it came time for the finish, Jericho was made to look weak. When Jericho applied Flair's Figure Four Leglock it drew a bit of a reaction, but nobody thought that was it. The move was on for nearly a minute yet Flair fought it off. Then Flair put Jericho in the Figure Four Leglock and Jericho tapped out within five seconds. They should have had Flair work over Jericho's knees a bit more because it really didn't set up the finish in a way you'd expect from two great performers like them. ---- What PPV do you want to see featured next?
