WWE SummerSlam 2013 Review: The Greatest SummerSlam Of All Time?

The Ending

The biggest talking point of last night was the events that followed the WWE title match. Having won the title Daniel Bryan stood in the ring celebrating when Randy Orton's entrance music hit and the viper stood on the outside of the ring, presumably as a reminder to Bryan that he was always waiting. As the show looked set to end Triple H, who had been guest referee for the encounter nailed Bryan with a pedigree which allowed Orton to slip into the ring, cash in the briefcase and become the new WWE champion. The show closed with Orton and Triple H celebrating together. Fans have taken to the internet concerning the supposed burial of Daniel Bryan and the screwjob ending, however let me just state that I thought it was the best ending to a PPV in a very long time. Fans have been calling for a Orton heel turn for a very long time and when it finally happens people complain!? Triple H's heel turn on the other hand was a nice surprise and one that is very welcomed. Has Daniel Bryan been buried? Not at all, having Bryan and Cena taking on the team of Orton and Triple H (and possibly the Mcmahon's ) will elevate him even further and prepare him for his time at the top. There is also the possibility of an Evolution reunion but perhaps I'm being a little too optimistic now.

Verdict

Summerslam 2013 was one of the best Pay Per Views in recent memory. The two main matches both lived up to their build up and them some whilst Alberto Del Rio give an incredible performance that validates him as a worthy World Heavyweight Champion right now. The other matches served their purposes as fillers and whilst it would have been nice to have seen the pre show match on the card as opposed to the divas or the mixed tag, the cracks were more than covered by the two main events. Was it the greatest SummerSlam of all time? I personally think that honour still belongs to SummerSlam 2002, however this one is certainly a real contender.
