WWE SummerSlam 2014: 10 Things We Expect To Happen

9. Reemergence Of The Miz

WWE.comWWE.comThe Awesome one's return to WWE on the June 30 episode of Raw featured the debut of a new character. Playing upon his recent roles in WWE and ABC Family films, Miz returned as a Hollywood big shot, wearing sunglasses and fancy designer threads. He carried himself like one of the elitist, self-absorbed Hollywood types that everyone loves to hate. Dripping with arrogance and ego, his return was met with all of the enthusiasm of a rectal exam. The fact of the matter is, it will take more than a wardrobe change and an attitude change to convince fans that The Miz they see today is any different than the stale, glorified jobber they last laid eyes on prior to WrestleMania. What better way to help him get over to the point that he can be perceived as a top talent again than by making him one of the breakout stars of the second most important pay-per-view of the year? With the event taking place in Los Angeles, the movie star capital of the world, Miz could really play up the new character in front of an audience familiar with real celebrities. Touting his success while much more recognizable stars sit in the seats would be an excellent way to help him get heat. A big win over an established star would only enhance the effect on the character. There is still a great deal of potential left in The Miz. His main event run was plagued with terrible booking and attention put on a part-time worker rather than the full-time WWE champion. If he can capitalize on what may very well be his last chance, he could return to the stardom he enjoyed three short years ago. If he cannot, expect to see the Cleveland native be passed by a new generation of talented competitors.
