WWE SummerSlam 2014: 10 Things We Expect To Happen

8. Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon

WWE.comWWE.comFrom the moment that Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon interacted as part of The Authority's vendetta against Daniel Bryan, many wondered if a program between the two of them would be the emphasis for McMahon's return to the ring. As their issues intensified and Bella laid her hands on the boss, it appeared as though that was direction things were heading. With Bryan sidelined thanks to a neck injury requiring surgery, it would be a way to keep heat on the program without requiring the former WWE World Heavyweight champion to do anything of a physical nature. More importantly, it would give the Divas division the highest profile match it had seen in a very long time. The slap from Bella to McMahon at WWE Payback in June, followed by the boss' recent targeting of Nikki Bella, seems to indicate that the much anticipated match is still on the books. After all, why would WWE Creative continue to bring the two sides together if there are no plans to eventually have them square off? It would make little sense and be a waste of time if that were the case. With WWE presenting its Battleground pay-per-view on July 20, many would point to that as the setting for the long-awaited match. But why waste Stephanie's return to the ring, her first match in over a decade, on a C-level pay-per-view event when SummerSlam, the second biggest show of the year, is right around the corner? A match on that stage, in front of hardcore fans that travel from all over the country, would be a much better and more prestigious bout than a wasted undercard match on an afterthought of a show like Battleground. The build is there, the heat, too. Expect to see two women deliver their best performances possible as they cap off their portion of the Daniel Bryan-Authority saga.
