Jon Stewart was an excellent celebrity guest host for SummerSlam. WWE fans are naturally coy when it comes to such an idea, because there was a time when Monday Night Raw was rendered virtually unwatchable by the premise. Few who witnessed it will ever forget actor Jeremy Piven referring to SummerSlam as 'the Summer Fest', for example. Stewart didn't fall into that trap. In actual fact, the television host and comedian was incredibly affable when he appeared on-screen. Opening up the show alongside Mick Foley, it was clear that Stewart knew what he was talking about. That definitely hasn't always been the case with guest hosts in the past, so it was a welcome change to the norm in WWE. The promotion's track record precedes them, but Jon Stewart was different. A self-confessed pro wrestling fan, the guy was likely delighted to play a part in the WWE Title bout between John Cena and Seth Rollins. Slugging Cena in the ribs with a steel chair, Stewart paved the way for Rollins to win the match. It made a world of difference to have someone there who isn't simply shilling a movie, or knows nothing about the product.
