It didn't take a genius to figure out the end game for AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens at SummerSlam. WWE plan to put KO against Shane McMahon, possibly in time for Hell In A Cell on 8 October. They will get physical before then, but the Cell may well be where things are settled between both men individually before some kind of team warfare at Survivor Series.

McMahon excelled in his role as peacekeeper in the US Title match this past Sunday. He only became involved when the wrestlers themselves got heated or in his face, and he worked his 'accidental screw job of Owens' spots brilliantly. This was slick, slick stuff from all concerned.

After the series of matches they've already had, another straight up one-on-one AJ vs. Owens match might've been a tough sell at SummerSlam. Without Shane's involvement, there's every chance even a good match could have become one of the throwaway ones stifling the rest of the card.
