WWE SummerSlam 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right

10. That Terry Crews Intro

Terry Crews is brilliant, and anyone who disagrees can get in the bin.

OK, that's perhaps a slightly strong statement, and yet the White Chicks, Expendables and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star was 100% engaging as he opened SummerSlam with one of those grandiose, movie-style packages WWE so love. On this occasion, it worked, and it helped sell the show as a special one on the calendar.

Crews cut quite the promo here, one stacked with enough rallying cries and OTT energy to give Mel Gibson's "They'll never take our freedom" speech in Braveheart a run for its money. Whatever WWE paid the actor, it wasn't enough, and he should be given lead duties on Kickoff shows immediately.

WWE are at their best when full of self-appreciative gusto that paints their product as bigger, better and more exciting than anything else in entertainment. It's hard to stomach at times, but it's the way they do business, and it works when proper actors are given strong material to work with.
