To finish off let’s look at the odds available for a number of different superstars to make an in-ring appearance at Summerslam:

Currently there are odds offered for 5 different WWE Superstars from the past and present making an appearance on Sunday. According to these odds the mostly likely of these superstars to appear is The Rock (1/3). Meanwhile Sting (8/15) and Stone Cold Steve Austin (8/15) are both also being hotly tipped to show up in the ring at this year Summerslam.

Wrestling fans can also bet on current WWE Superstar Kane (6/5) making his return at the PPV, however the odds seem to suggest that it is more likely that he will not appear (4/7) at the event. A final wrestler who you can get odds on making an appearance is former WWE Superstar Kurt Angle (17/2), however the odds are very much against the Olympic Gold medal winner making a shock return.

Storyline Implications:

The bookmakers’ odds seem to suggest that The Rock, Sting & Stone Cold will all make appearances at Summerslam. If this is what transpires on Sunday one would have to assume that The Rock’s return would be in some sort of angle with his rumoured opponents for WrestleMania next year, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

A Sting appearance meanwhile would presumably see him getting involved in the Wyatt Family vs Ambrose & Reigns feud, which he is rumoured to be becoming a part of (on the side of Ambrose & Reigns) when Erick Rowan returns from injury and re-joins the Wyatts. Alternatively his return may also result in the start of a feud between himself and his predicted WrestleMania opponent – The Undertaker.

Stone Cold’s reason for returning is perhaps the hardest to predict should he turn up, however it is possible that he may turn up on Sunday night in order to be announced as the host of WrestleMania 32. Austin has been strongly linked with this role because of the fact that WrestleMania is taking place in his home state of Texas next year.
