WWE Survivor Series: 10 Weirdest Sole Survivor Situations
3. The Interrogator - Survivor Series 1997
Three out of four of 1997 Survivor Series elimination
matches ended with a sole survivor: The British Bulldog, Ken Shamrock, and…The
Interrogator.
In the faction war between the Truth Commission (The Jackyl, The Interrogator, Sniper, and Recon) and the Disciples of Apocalypse (Crush, Chainz, 8-Ball, and Skull), The Interrogator eliminated Chainz, 8-Ball, and finally Crush.
Though the Truth Commission were a relatively short-lived stable, it is easy to see why the 6 ft 10 in Interrogator was dominant against DOA, a faction in its dying days. But the man behind the gimmick Robert Maillet was comparable to a ‘90s Great Khali - without a brief run with the World Heavyweight Championship and a comedy redemption.
This sole survivor push was weird but low risk, with none of the company’s stars jobbing. However, in retrospect, the wrestler being portrayed as a threat is laughable. Maillet, would become Kurrgan, a member of The Oddities. Kurrgan is best remembered for tie dye and teaming with a John Tenta disguised in a gold gimp mask who fostering an unhealthy attraction to a stuffed Cartman toy.
