Though the Miz and Baron Corbin unquestionably over-delivered, it was the equivalent of your postie bringing next door's junk mail - more than expected, but not especially welcome. Thankfully, it didn't fall into the vacuous sack of w*nk which usually collects Corbin matches, but there's no question it was there simply to boost SmackDown's numbers before the show's big finale. 'Lone Wolf' needs to sort out those ridiculous crotchless tights, too. They're not becoming.

If that mid-card title tussle was the chalkiest of chalk, The Bar's collision with their SmackDown counterparts was the cheesiest of cheese. In a good way. Tag team wrestling has seen a dramatic revival at the top-end of WWE's divisions in 2017, and that's largely down to the work of these four men. Put simply, the match was an absolute belter from start to finish, packed with near-falls, pinpoint psychology, and enough fresh invention from two tandems with a seemingly bottomless barrel of ideas that they are surely contenders for the Nobel prize. And this despite Michael Cole stupidly commenting that Cesaro "nearly lost his legs" after a forward springboard. When The Usos ripped the shirts off becoming Samoan Hakushis for the closing segment, an extra notch was picked up. Even a petty 'superkick party!' comment couldn't undermine this delightful display.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
