WWE: Team GB in World Wrestling Entertainment

3. Drew McIntyre

Unfortunately for Drew McIntyre, his assessment is likely the most negative of the British featured in this article. Entering WWE with such promise, the man who was once presented as Vince McMahon's 'Chosen One' has never had his stock so low as it currently seems to stand within WWE. Debuting in 2009, McIntyre would enjoy a good amount of TV time in feuds with R Truth and John Morrison, winning the Intercontinental Championship from the latter in December of that year. He also had an on/off rivalry with Matt Hardy in 2010, as well as still being loosely booked as McMahon's preferred Superstar during this period. Later in 2010, the Scot would form a Tag Team with Cody Rhodes and go on to win the Tag Team Championship, however this run only lasted just over a month. Since 2011, McIntyre has generally been confined to losing on minor WWE shows or no TV time at all. His only real exposure came at Wrestlemania 28 as part of the winning team in a 12 man tag match, however he soon returned to lower card status after this. Many view McIntyre as having all the tools to be a major Superstar in WWE, however the pieces seemingly haven't all fallen into place in his career just yet. Whether it be a creative issue or otherwise, the initial hype attached to his character looks to have been a curse rather than a blessing. It will be interesting to see if the WWE Creative Team can come up with anything for McIntyre in the near future to return him to the heights once promised, or if his plight will ultimately see him removed from the WWE roster altogether. It seems many fans would be upset were this to turn out to be the case, but it certainly seems a fresh start is needed in his career one way or another.
