5. Wade Barrett
With his return to TV impending, Wade Barrett could be the next big Brit in WWE. He has already enjoyed a high profile feud with John Cena in 2010, but it could be seen he lost his way in the company a bit after the Nexus break-up and short lived forming of The Corre. Barrett went from the Main Event scene to an arguably forgettable feud with Ezekiel Jackson as Intercontinental Champion. After losing this title to Jackson, Barrett found himself headed back in an upwards direction entering a rivalry with Randy Orton in late 2011 through until early 2012. Unfortunately for the former leader of The Nexus, he would suffer an injury soon after in the lead up to Wrestlemania which halted his rise back up the card. However it seems WWE have not lost faith in Barrett and are looking to continue his push back to the top on his return. Recent promo videos have showcased a new underground fighter gimmick, presumably playing off of his past life experience as a bareknuckle boxer in Liverpool. Complete with a new look beard to boot, WWE look to have invested heavily in promoting Barrett's return and it's easy to imagine this will continue when he gets back in the squared circle. It will be interesting to see who WWE decides to pair Barrett in a program with upon his return and whether they will position him as a good guy or a villain. If he returns to Smackdown, both Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus could be potential candidates if he is positioned as a face or heel, respectively. There would also be possibilities on Raw, with CM Punk, Kane or Daniel Bryan perhaps free to enter a feud after the upcoming Night of Champions PPV. If Punk is to go through until the Royal Rumble to face The Rock, Barrett could certainly be seen as a potential candidate to fill in his time during the months leading up to that event. Even if this doesn't result in the Englishman taking the Championship from the self proclaimed 'Best in the World', it may cement him as a Main Eventer for years to come.
