WWE: Top 10 Evolution Moments

2. Evolution€™s End

If Evolution seemed like it was on borrowed time in 2004, after the Royal Rumble in 2005 it was fast approaching its inevitable end. Having won the 2005 Royal Rumble match, Batista faced the dilemma of choosing which championship to challenge for at the main event at WrestleMania 21. Triple H as the then World Heavyweight Champion tried his best to persuade Batista to challenge JBL for the WWE Championship on Smackdown! suggesting that WrestleMania 21 would conclude with Evolution in posession of both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships. It was clear that if Batista decided to challenge Triple H, Evolution would be no more and so fans were left waiting for Batista€™s decision on a contract signing segment of RAW. During the segment, Batista would tease signing a Smackdown! contract with a thumbs up to a relieved Triple H, but in a scene mirroring Triple H with Randy Orton some months earlier, Batista would give Triple H the thumbs down and deliver a Batista Bomb to the World Champion through a table. He would then sign the RAW contract, challenge Triple H for the World Championship at WrestleMania 21 and subsequently defeat Triple H to become World Heavyweight Champion himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9VlyKYUudQ This marked the memorable end of Evolution, a faction that had started out with such promise and purpose, but that had ended as it always was going to end, with Randy Orton and Batista leaving the stable after realising that Evolution was engineered by Triple H, for Triple H.
