WWE Theory: AJ Styles Will Win Money In The Bank 2020

Or rather, not the men's briefcase.

Otis is in the Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match because Mandy Rose is in the Women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match and the nuances of their combined gimmick mean that you can have a lot of fun with that. There's a genuine possibility that, having climbed the ladder and with a free shot to glory, he will instead opt to win the wrong briefcase as a gift to his beloved.

Quite how management explains that booking decision to Shayna Baszler is another matter entirely but, either way, Otis is out.

Elsewhere, Rey Mysterio is a vital component to the makeup of this match, but won't even have been in the conversation when it came to who is winning the thing. The 45-year-old is a very solid hand for the company, and this recent Lesnar-centric flirtation with the main event was no less than he deserved, but he's not someone the company thinks of as a potential champion anymore. He'll be back in the Zelina Vega feud before too long.

King Corbin is an interesting proposition because it's impossible to argue that WWE doesn't see him as a possible Money In Bank Briefcase holder because he has literally been one. His 2017 victory felt like a huge push was on the way until he was unceremoniously defeated by Jinder Mahal upon cashing in, purely to set up an embarrassing squash match with John Cena.

Fundamentally though, the briefcase is a prop designed to help a wrestler get more out of their TV time. It keeps them in the orbit of the main-event without having to feud directly with the champion and, by and large, is something that's used to add some character where there isn't one already.
