WWE TLC 2018: 10 Things WWE Got Right
6. Saving The TLC Stip For The Main Event
So was cancelling an actual match in favour of a babyface beatdown of the heel GM.
A quick look at TLC's card before the show started revealed that only two matches carried the titular stipulation. On one side, there was the bruising Triple Threat between Becky Lynch, Asuka and Charlotte Flair. On the other, bloody Baron Corbin vs. Braun Strowman. Seems a bit lop-sided, doesn't it?
WWE thought so too, and that (along with Braun's injury woes) forced them to shelve any plans to do a proper TLC stunt show between Strowman and his so-called boss. Praise be they did. Seeing the TLC gimmick hurled out there for Baron vs. Braun would have been a gross misuse of the show's core concept.
Without the visual of Strowman crashing Corbin through tables or sending him plummeting off of ladders, the women in the headliner were free to do their thing and have it feel fresh. It's slightly annoying to think that wasn't the initial plan, but hey-ho.
