Long story short, this time next year Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson will either be on bumper deals in WWE for the best years of their career, or have left the company entirely. Their contracts were originally scheduled to be up after WrestleMania this year, but owing to injuries they'll actually be free nearer the winter.

They have already asked for their release, but WWE are desperate to keep them. Partially because they're the best pure tag-team wrestlers in the entire company (fight me), and partially because they know just how desperate AEW would be to add them to the Dynamite roster. To get them to sign on the dotted line though, a lot would have to change in the way they're booked. Starting this Sunday.

Putting the titles on them and allowing for a long, storied series of defences leading into WrestleMania is probably all WWE have left to convince the pair that tag-team wrestling is a priority. The continued hotshotting - and, of course, pouring water all over their dicks - has been a painful watch.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
