I want to like TNA, I really do. At times in the past, I actually enjoyed Impact more than Raw. That probably sounds crazy, but it was true. These days you cant help but feel that Impact is just trying to do what WWE is doing with only 5% of the budget, and 2% of the creativity. The biggest feud in WWE over the past couple of months was Daniel Bryan vs. evil authority figure Triple H. From here until Slammiversary, the biggest feud in TNA is going to be man who vaguely looks like Daniel Bryan vs. evil authority figure MVP. Heres the thing, TNA did absolutely not need another evil authority figure! Its played out. Im tired of it, the fans are tired of it, why is Dixie Carter not tired of it? The company just marches out one heel boss after another: Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, Dixie Carter and now MVP. None of them were half as good as Steve Austin and Vince McMahon, so there is no good reason to recast that feud for the 5,000th time. Over the past few months, MVP was one of the only good things going in that company. He was a good guy at the top of the company. It was refreshing. He created a level playing field for the wrestlers, which is something that actually makes sense for someone in charge. Now that was all thrown away so Eric Young can continue his absurd title reign, and so we can relive an idea that was played out 14 years ago.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
