WWE UK Championship: 10 Things We Want To See

8. Give The Wrestlers Freedom Of Movement

Another concern that some observers had after the tournament was announced was whether or not this was an attempt by the WWE to stage a massive talent raid of UK wrestlers. When questioned about this, William Regal seemed to suggest that the plan was for the wrestlers to remain as something akin to free-agents and be able to compete for other wrestling promoters in the UK.

This would definitely be for the best. There probably isn't enough interest with North American wrestling fans for a 'British Division' on the main roster, and any attempt to create one would more than likely suffer the same fate as the flagging Cruiserweight division. The loss of so many wrestlers would be terrible for the UK wrestling scene, and lingering in the lower cards of the WWE wouldn't benefit the wrestlers either.

Ideally, any wrestlers the WWE are interested in would be free to work for whichever UK promotions they wish, with WWE work being just another short-term contract. Obviously, the WWE will want to have some measure of control over the UK Championship and those wrestlers competing for it. So these individuals might be more limited as to what they can and can't do whilst in the UK Title picture, but this would probably be a fair price to pay for the increased exposure and wage packet.
