WWE Ultimate Warrior DVD Review: 10 Things You Should Know

6. Opinions On Savage And Hart

The DVD moves forward with an exciting match with Randy Savage. There are further great Savage / Warrior matches later in the set, including a steel cage bout and the WrestleMania 7 contest. Warrior has only good things to say about his opponent, "Randy was the best," and says they had a lot in common on the way they thought and worked. It was always about the bigger picture for Warrior, he claims he always had his mind engaged with the product, much like McMahon "WrestleMania 30 is coming up, but they're already thinking about 31, 32, 33, 34, 35. I'm like that, always thinking ahead." For what it's worth, WrestleMania 30 has illustrated the WWE never think ahead. Warrior also uses his interview to pass himself off as a humble and modest man. He tries to make out he was never bothered about being Champion and instead focused on character. "I don't need a belt to make me better," he states. This seems at odds with other reports which have Warrior as a huge ego, the interview comes off as Warrior going into PR for himself in this respect. The assertion he never needed a belt to be a star is also a dig at Bret Hart who he randomly criticises "I never got caught up about the belt, not like guys like Bret Hart." To be fair, Hart is without doubt the most title-obsessed superstar ever as Montreal '97 confirmed, but Warrior is hardly a man who should be throwing stones.
