WWE Ultimate Warrior DVD Review: 10 Things You Should Know
5. A Great Rick Rude Match And Clashes With Andre The Giant
The wrestling highlight of this set is Ultimate Warrior versus Rick Rude from SummerSlam 1989. It's a lengthy and athletic contest in which Warrior really delivers some stunning in-ring work. Rude was an elite in-ring worker, but Warrior was great in his own right in the contest. He demonstrated pace, power, strength, athleticism and stamina in the action. It really would stand up to today's standards of matches, it could easily have taken place in the modern day. As one half of this awesome match, Warrior does deserve credit as a guy who could work. As the interview progresses, Warrior again tries to re-enforce the idea he's a humble guy. "Jobbers were great, they did so much for me, I'll never forget them," he says before the DVD features a couple of no-name squash matches. Moving on, we get to see Warrior in action against Andre The Giant. The massive Andre actually looked healthy here despite the declining level of physicality he had in 1989. Warrior going over Andre seems crazy given the Giant was that generation's Undertaker and rarely lost to anyone. "Andre's so over as a character and never did anything he didn't want to do, I was always honoured what he did for me" Warrior declares. In reality, The Giant was reportedly not a fan of Warrior and internet rumours say he once stiffed the rookie. In this new interview Warrior paints a different picture, "He was always in a good mood around me, because he liked me."
