WWE Ultimate Warrior DVD Review: 10 Things You Should Know
4. Warrior On Winning The WWF Title And Dropping It
Warrior will always be best remembered for his WWF title winning match over Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6, which features on disc 2. Warrior details how the WWF had no choice but to put the title on him due to his popularity. "They knew they couldn't turn me heel," unlike Hogan's other Mania opponents. It's true. Warrior was an amazingly popular star, he was as over with the crowds as Daniel Bryan is nowadays. "We only met one time in Florida to work through the match," Warrior reveals about the preparation for Mania 6. What's interesting about that, is many wreslters never rehearse matches, they call it in the ring. As for Warrior's verdict on how his title winning triumph turned out "It was a great match, the chemistry was awesome." From those comments, we can presume he has dropped his heat with Hulk Hogan which infamously re-surfaced in a shoot youtube video a couple of years back. In fact, this 2014 interview doesn't have one bad word against The Hulkster. Moving on to the decision for Warrior to drop the belt, he goes into business with damage control PR for himself. "The business was making a transition, Vince always went to the newspapers to see what's in the news ... the war was going on." As such, Warrior claims the decision was made for him to drop the belt to Sgt Slaughter. Others have in fact claimed the decision was related to declining business and wanting to put Hulk Hogan back in the driving seat. "I liked it," Warrior says about dropping the belt (hard to believe), "and I didn't give it much more concern than that."
