WWE: Will Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Brock Lesnar Ever Happen?

Stone Cold Steve Austin has left the door open for a future match with Brock Lesnar, in comments that came on his podcast show with Paul Heyman. The two men were discussing Lesnar and how he still hasn't hit his peak as a pro-wrestler, Heyman then proposed the idea to Austin of 'The Beast' versus 'The Rattlesnake'. Rather than ruling the feud out, Stone Cold instead said he would have to hit pause on the recorder and continue that conversation about the match away from the show. Paul Heyman commented that fan speculation would now go into over-drive with the suggestion as Austin hadn't shut it down. Was Austin serious or just toying with his fans? No one knows. He has commented in the past that he would "never say never" if the money and situation was right. Certainly in the case of a Lesnar match, the money potential would be astronomical. The creative would make sense too, Austin quit WWE in 2002 due to a dispute about working with Lesnar, it's a huge match we have wanted to see ever since. You also have the fact that Austin is arguably the biggest name pro-wrestler ever, while Lesnar is arguably the biggest MMA name ever, certainly in terms of both being box office draws. The biggest reason this match won't happen is Austin's neck injury. He's a guy who can't take major bumps, despite commenting that his body is in good shape, Austin is in poor condition to work a wrestling match. Just look at what happened to Undertaker when he worked a supposedly 'safe style' Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania 30. A 100,000 attendance in Texas at the Cowboys Stadium for WrestleMania 32 could appeal to Steve Austin, the Lesnar match is huge, but unfortunately the Rattlesnake's health may never be up to the WWE standard.
