WWE WrestleMania 31: 10 Things That Need To Happen

6. Rusev Defeats John Cena

We know, we know...there's absolutely no chance of John Cena losing this match on the grandest stage of them all, especially after jobbing clean at Fastlane to Rusev. But just hear us out and let us explain why Cena losing to Rusev a second time wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. John Cena is untouchable. He has been established as The Man for over a decade and his position on the card is set in stone. He's basically became the 21st century version of Hulk Hogan where he is going to be considered a main event player and a title threat no matter what his position on the card is. So therefore, what harm is there in having him lose to Rusev at WrestleMania? Cena actually jobbed to Lord Tensai (Jason Albert on NXT) upon Tensai's debut and does anyone even remember that? Did it hurt Cena in any way? Absolutely not. There is a distinct lack of upper card talents in WWE right now. Most wrestlers suffer from the dreaded 50-50 booking philosophy of WWE where everyone trades wins and no one gets to build any momentum or heat. Let's say that Cena does defeat Rusev...where does that leave him the next month? He can't claim to be undefeated anymore, his aura of invincibility is gone, and he's back to the midcard threatening guys like Jack Swagger with violence. In short, he'll be finished. But, what if he beats John Cena a second time? Cena's position on the card won't be hurt at all and Rusev will look like the next coming of Ivan Drago. Cena can always get his win back later on if it's really that important to him but isn't establishing a main event heel more important than placating John Cena's ego with a win at WrestleMania?
