WWE WrestleMania 33: 10 Potential Main Events

8. A.J. Styles Vs. The Undertaker

WWE was teasing this pairing on the 900th episode of SmackDown, maybe just to gauge how the fan’s reaction would be. It seems they’d definitely be into an A.J. Styles vs. Undertaker match. And why wouldn’t they?

Styles is one of the best wrestlers of this generation, and he's never faced off against The Undertaker. It’s a dream match the likes that we thought we’d never see. WWE can now make it a reality. Styles is also more deserving of a higher-profile match than what he was given last year with Chris Jericho, as he’s proven he can be one of the most reliable performers in the company.

From a pure in-ring perspective, Styles may be the best choice for Undertaker to battle. By the time WrestleMania comes around he’ll be 52 years old. If the company wants to make him seem like a larger-than-life, powerful figure, he could toss around Styles for 15 minutes and still look close to what he did in his prime.

To make things more intriguing, they could make it a Title vs. Career match. Styles could say he wants to cement his legacy by getting rid of The Dead Man, and Taker wants to prove that WrestleMania will no longer define him. That way he could win the title, and perhaps compete in a handful of matches in the following months as champ. It wouldn’t be an unprecedented move to have a part-time talent holding the gold, and it would likely create more interest in SmackDown in the foreseeable future.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
