WWE's 10 Most Iconic Babyface Turns

9. Lex Luger Slams Yokozuna For America In 1993

Lex Luger's WWE career started as a heel at the start of 1993. "The Narcissist" was the name of his character. It was another way of saying he was a very conceited guy that thought he was better than everybody because he had an amazing physique. He loved posing for the cameras and even in front of the mirror. His first six months in the company were uneventful. After a time limit draw with Tatanka at the June 1993 King of the Ring PPV, it looked like he was going to be a bust in WWE. Things changed less than a month later. Yokozuna was doing a Bodyslam Challenge on the USS Intrepid on July 4th with thousands of fans watching outdoors. Dozens of men tried to slam him, but they couldn't do it. All of a sudden, a helicopter landed nearby and out walked Lex Luger in the red, white & blue colors of America. He stepped up to challenge Yokozuna. http://youtu.be/_v-vSfCAF0Y The crowd was chanting "Lex" for Luger even though they had done absolutely nothing with him prior to this. A big reason why he got cheered is because he insulted Mr. Fuji, who managed Yokozuna. Luger went face to face to Yokozuna, which led to Yoko missing a charge and Luger stunned him with a forearm. Luger picked up Yoko and slammed him down to the mat. When he got off the helicopter, Luger was just another midcard heel in WWE. When it was over, Luger received cheers from the crowd and became one of the top babyfaces in the company. It was a great face turn.
